Project Partners

Chris Craft, Indiana University, School of Public and Environmental Affairs

Project Role: Dr. Craft is the Principal Investigator for the project.  He will oversee coordination of field sampling, GIS & modeling. He also will be in charge of the soils & marsh nekton work.  The Craft Lab is equipped with gamma spectrometer for 137Cs and 210Pb analysis, Perkin-Elmer CHN analyzer, UV/visible & atomic absorption spectrophotometers and wet lab space for soil digestions.  The Craft Lab also will work to identify and statistically analyze marsh epifauna data from permanent plots in the ten GCE LTER marshes for years 2000-present.
Office Locations:  Bloomington, Indiana

Mandy Joye, University of Georgia, Department of Marine Sciences

Project Role: Dr. Joye will supervise the CO2, CH4 and denitrification analyses.  Her group will be responsible for quantifying sediment fluxes of CO2 and CH4, for determining denitrification rates and for conducting laboratory experiments to determine the environmental and physiological factors controlling microbial activity in sediments.

Steve Pennings, University of Houston, Department of Biology and Biochemistry

Project Role: Dr. Pennings  will supervise measurements of macrophyte production & diversity.  He also will oversee statistical and time series analysis of climate and vegetation data from the GCE LTER permanent plots.  Pennings is the Co-PI of the GCE LTER and will coordinate efforts between the LTER and this project.
Office Location:  Houston, Texas

Dick Park, Eco Modeling

ECO MODELING

Project Role: Dr. Park, who developed the Sea Level Rise Affects Marshes Model (SLAMM), will direct model refinements and simulations of changes in marsh area and type in response to sea level rise scenarios for the three study watersheds and the Georgia-South Carolina coast.
Office Locations:  Diamondhead, Mississippi

Jonathan Clough, Warren Pinnacle Consulting, Inc.

WARREN PINNACLE CONSULTING

Project Role: Mr. Clough, the current SLAMM steward and coding expert, will perform the model refinements and the simulations for the project.
Office Location:  Warren, Vermont
Web Site: http://www.warrenpinnacle.com/prof/index.html

Jeff Ehman, Image Matters LLC

Project Role: Dr. Ehman will provide wetlands and elevation geospatial inputs for SLAMM, develop the ecosystem services scaling model, and will develop and maintain this website, web-mapping services, and metadata for the project.
