Social Entrepreneurship Internship Program: Host Sites

The following organizations hosted Social Entrepreneurship intern projects during the Summer 2006.

Bloomington

Eppley Institute for Parks and Public Lands, Bloomington/IU – Working with the National Park Service to develop a business plan to improve the use, marketing, and financial viability of their training facilities and programs.

Middle Way House, Bloomington – Developing a three-year business, financial, and marketing plan to increase the profitability of its two existing social enterprise programs (Confidential Document Destruction and FoodWorks);

Volunteers in Medicine (VIM), Bloomington – Researching alternative funding and organizational approaches and developing a detailed business plan to create, fund, organize, and operate a VIM clinic in Bloomington.  Criteria include developing needed approaches to coordinate efforts with existing nonprofit and public health programs, organizations, and agencies in Monroe County.

Indianapolis

Clarian Health Partners, Indianapolis – Quantifying and identifying outcomes for their Community Benefit program and to help develop system-wide criteria for reporting and evaluating Community Benefit efforts.

Eli Lilly Company, Indianapolis and Geneva, Switzerland – Evaluating the operation and improving the impact of a multi-agency international collaborative to provide effective distribution of a vaccine to combat Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB) in third world countries.

Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana, Inc., Indianapolis – Developing a Work-Readiness training program that is integrated with current Goodwill programs and better prepares workers for future job placement

The Indiana Youth Institute, Indianapolis – Evaluating its current social enterprise Evaluation Associates and developing plans to expand the program to a higher operational and financial level.
