CALL FOR
PARTICIPATION
Academy of
Management, Public & Nonprofit Division
2006 Doctoral Student Professional Development Consortium
Each year the Public and Nonprofit (PNP) Division of the
Academy of Management (AoM) sponsors a professional consortium for doctoral
students at the annual AoM conference. These consortia have been a PNP tradition
for nearly three decades, and they are unrivaled for the networking and
professional development opportunities they offer to participants. If you are a
program director or faculty member, we urge you to nominate your doctoral
students. If you are a doctoral student with aspirations to teach or do research
in the fields of public or nonprofit management, nominate yourself to
participate in the 2006 consortium.
AoM 2006 meets in Atlanta, Georgia August 11-16, and the
consortium unfolds on Saturday and Sunday, August 12 and 13. The consortium
provides great opportunities for participants to discuss issues of importance to
them (research, publishing, writing, career strategies) and interact with peers
and a diverse group of preeminent faculty. The consortium has strong programs
planned, with details outlined in the attached sheets. There is no charge for
the consortium.
Students attempting to join the consortium should contact
Elizabeth Winslow through email
ebw02d@garnet.acns.fsu.edu. Each student participant is requested to submit
a short (one to two pages) research proposal to Elizabeth no later than June 10th.
If you have decided on a dissertation topic, we encourage you to submit a short
synopsis of the dissertation. If you have not yet articulated a dissertation
topic, please submit a proposal that briefly outlines a potential research
project that could be shaped into a dissertation. Consortium organizers will
match the proposals with faculty members serving on the research panel.
Please move promptly to nominate your doctoral students or
yourselves to participate. If you have other questions about the consortium,
please contact the organizers. We also welcome you to join us for the regular
program at the AoM conference.
See you in Atlanta in August,
