What is IPM?

Integrated pest management (IPM) is an alternative means of pest management developed to reduce the use of toxic chemicals. Our goal is to protect the health of the children of Indiana and to decrease the non-point source pollution of Indiana's ground and surface water through its implementation.

Our objective is to diffuse IPM throughout the state of Indiana, first through pilot programs in seven school corporations statewide (at least two of which are located adjacent to designated waters), and five childcare centers. These pilot programs are based on the Monroe County Community School Corporation's IPM program, winner of the 1997 Governor's Award for Excellence in Pollution Prevention.
