Professor Shin's research and teaching interests are comparative public policy, international economic development, and trade policy. He is the editor-in-chief of Policy and Management Review.  He has published works in the broad field of comparative public policy, and was a Senior Fulbright Research Scholar in Korea during 1997. His current research projects include international joint ventures, an impact study of foreign direct investments of the multinational corporations, concentrating on electronics and telecommunications sectors. He had done consulting work for the governments of the Republic of China, Egypt, Japan, and Korea as well as many private companies
