Michael Fristch is a professor of economics and holds the chair for
economic policy at the Technical University Bergakedemie Freiberg,
Germany. Born in (West) Berlin, he has received his academic degrees
from the Technical University of Berlin. Main fields of research and numerous publications of Michael Fritsch are:
markets and market failure, new firm formation and the impact of new firms on regional development, innovation and regional development.
Professor Fritsch has participated in the European
Innovation Survey, a joint project that created a rich database of
innovation activities by manufacturing firms, by public research institutions
and in the sector of business related services in eleven European
Regions. Currently he also acts as a coordinator of a research program
of the German Science Foundation on new firm formation.
