The School of Public and Environmental Affairs and the Indiana Conflict
Resolution Institute are co-sponsoring a colloquium during the Fall semester of 1999.

Topic: The programs at the newly formed United States Institute for Conflict Resolution

Speaker: Kirk Emerson, Executive Director of the United States Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution.  Ms. Emerson holds a B.A. from Princeton University, an M.S. in city planning from MIT, and a Ph.D. from Indiana University in political science and public policy.  She practiced planning for eight years in Pennsylvania at the Bucks County Planning Commission, where she was the Director of County-wide Planning.  She is also trained in environmental conflict resolution and has experience in mediating land-use and development conflicts.  Her current research focuses on environmental conflict resolution, specifically concerning land use and property rights conflicts.
