The Indiana Conflict Resolution
Institute (ICRI), in the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs
(SPEA), was established in 1997, and is dedicated to the understanding and expansion of
conflict and dispute resolution in public and private arenas. The Institute received
initial funding from Indiana University through a program called the Strategic Directions
Initiative; much of its continuing research is funded with grants from private foundations
and organizations. Additional underwriting for ICRIs research has come
from the United States Postal Service, the National Institutes of Health,
the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, and the William
and Flora Hewlett Foundation. The Hewlett Foundation has enabled ICRI to initiate
several nationally focused projects in the growing field of
conflict resolution.
